GOST R

GOST (government standard), one of the main categories of standards in the USSR, is now an interstate standard in the CIS. It is approved by The Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (ISC). During the Soviet period all GOST standards were obligatory for application in those areas, that were determined by the preamble of the standard itself. In the Russian Federation Federal Law on Technical Regulation № 184-FZ as of December, 27 2002 distinguishes the terms “technical regulation” and “standard”; therefore all GOSTs shall lose its obligatory character and be applied voluntarily. Although in a transition period (prior to the approval of relevant technical regulations) the law stipulates obligatory fulfillment of the requirements of standards in the part, meeting the purpose of citizens’ life and health protection, protection of personal or legal entity’s property, governmental or municipal property; environmental protection, protection of animal and plant life and health; prevention of consumer misleading actions. Official Rosstandard website provides free access to GOSTs and GOSTs alterations, approved over the period since January 2006 up until now (contains not all the texts); graphic low-resolution copies of documents are introduced with watermarks and copyprotection.
In GOST R system Russian Register has the accreditation of:

• Quality Systems Register for quality management systems certification for compliance with GOST R ISO 9001-2008 requirements; and


• Management Systems Register for certification for compliance with the following standards: GOST R ISO 9001-2008, GOST R ISO 14001-2007, GOST12.0.230-2007, GOST12.0.007-2009, OHSAS 18001:2007 GOST R ISO 22000-2007, GOST R 52614.4-2006 (IWA4:2005), GOST R ISO 52614.2-2006 (IWA2:2003).
